REASON FOR TREATMENT:
In January 2009, Manana, a healthy woman in general, felt deterioration in her health condition.
She started experiencing weakness in face and neck muscles and began feeling uncomfortable while speaking, eating and drinking. With the progression of the condition, it became difficult for Manana to pronounce some sounds.
While her symptoms progressing, it became difficult for Manana to keep her head and neck upright.
Later Manana began experiencing muscle spasms during the night, and her condition deteriorated at a faster pace.
In August 2010, further symptoms have appeared - muscle weakness in the lower jaw, inability to lift the lower jaw.
Manana had developed great difficulty to chew and to swallow. Later Manana began experiencing problems with motor ability in the upper limbs (it became difficult to raise her hands).
Manana was examined in Tbilisi, where she received a preliminary diagnosis as suffering from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis.
Manana had tried various alternative treatment options in Georgia and abroad, including Traditional Chinese Medicine. Alternative treatment did not bring the expected results, and Manana???s condition continued deteriorating.
During medical treatment in China (TCM), Manana learned about stem cell treatment from a former patient of Beijing Puhua International Hospital. Six months later, Manana and her husband came to Beijing for treatment, determined to slow down the disease progression and improving Manana???s quality of life.
CONDITION BEFORE TREATMENT:
Upon admission, Manana was noted to experience general muscle weakness, with greater emphasis in neck, face and hands areas. The muscles of the lower jaw were very weak and Manana could not chew food independently (both solid and liquid). It was difficult for Manana to close her jaw (mouth), without using her hands.
Manana also experienced difficulties with swallowing and had excessive salivation.
Due to problems with eating, Manana lost weight rapidly.
It was difficult for Manana to control her neck, and she used hands to support the head.
The muscle tone on the upper limbs was a little bit weaker than on the lower limbs, and she could not raise her hands.
Manana would tire quickly, which required rests throughout the day
Manana motoric problems have expressed themselves in her speech and communication skills. It was difficult for her to speak and she could not pronounce some sounds, which made communication less free and more challenging.
METHOD OF TREATMENT:
Stem cell transplantation via lumbar puncture and intravenous injections; blood circulation improving treatment; neural nutrition treatment; Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)
AFTER THE TREATMENT:
After the 4 weeks treatment Manana`s general condition has improved greatly.
Manana felt more energetic after the stem cell procedures, with lesser breathing difficulty, and less drooling. She became more mobile, and now spends less time in the bed.
After the treatment, Manana can support her head more naturally, move lower jaw and protrude tongue a little better. Manana can chew some solid foods, and her swallowing difficulty has improved.
Since Manana can now eat independently, after one month of stay in Beijing, she gained one kilo.
Manana???s muscle tone in the upper limbs (hands), has improved. It became easier for Manana to raise her hands, and she started performing more exercises during her physiotherapy sessions.
After stem cells treatment???s completion, Manana and her husband have decided to stay in the hospital longer and added two additional weeks of extensive rehabilitation (physiotherapy and TCM).
Manana and her husband were very happy with the treatment, and hope that the cells will help to slow down the deterioration of the condition.
We wish Manana to continue improving and will follow up on her periodically.
