REASON FOR TREATMENT:
Beginning in 2001, Joaquim began noticing changes in his body and mind, however he didn't regard the signs as serious. He began mixing up numbers, and experiencing difficulties getting in and out of his car. In 2004 first he started having occasional tremor and cramps in his legs. Also, he began having trouble staying in sync while dancing with his wife.
While Joaquim's symptoms continued to deteriorate, his doctors had a problem diagnosing his condition. At first, Joaquim was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, and only later, after being forced to stop working as a Real-Estate Agent and years of bad response to medications and continuing deterioration, was he diagnosed with MSA.
CONDITION BEFORE TREATMENT:
After being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and prescribed with Dopamine inducing agents, Joaquim did not experience any improvements in his condition. His writing and dancing continued to get worse and his body continued to stiffen.
Joaquim tried alternative medicines, but his symptoms continuously got worse.
Before deciding to undergo stem cell treatment, Joaquim's body has become extremely stiff, and he could only walk with a walker and have his wife nearby to help carry out all daily activities.
Joaquim could not wash himself, eat, get out of bed or a chair. His speech continued to get more slurred and his voice weak. He had to be careful not to choke while eating, and he needed a caregiver to help him eat, which also required a lot of time. He had troubles with urinating. Joaquim's coordination movements were slow, with poor balance.
METHOD OF TREATMENT: Stem cell implantation, activation of neural cells via a daily supply of neurotrophic factors, daily rehabilitation and occupational therapy sessions, daily Traditional Chinese Medicine treatments.
AFTER THE TREATMENT:
Joaquim began experiencing improvements throughout the treatment. After the second stem cell implantation his balance has improved, and he continued improving after each stem cell implantation.
Now, when Joaquim stands up, his balance is much better and he can strengthen his waist more. He can now hold his head up. His speech got much better than before as it is clearer and easier for others to understand.
With improvement in swallowing, Joaquim is now able to drink water by himself. His upper limbs movement is more flexible, as well as the movements of his fingers and toes.
He now can get up and lie down independently. Also, it is now easier for him to stand up from a sitting position. Joaquim walks more stable now, and his urinating has also significantly improved.
Before coming for treatment, Joaquim told us that he wants to get better since he wishes to dance with his wife again. During the third week of his stay he danced with his wife, while singing a song, something that he could not do for a long time, and it made both Joaquim and his family very happy.
