REASON FOR TREATMENT
Khaled started to notice some changes in his body in 2003.
As Khaled's family was very worried about his condition, they tried different medications to help ease the pain he was suffering from, yet more symptoms have appeared after the medications.
Khaled developed numbness and a tingling sensation all over his body and experienced difficulties with worsening gait and eyesight. All these symptoms led Khaled to become wheelchair-bound, and unabled him to experience a normal quality of life.
Hearing of the good improvements past multiple sclerosis patients have experienced in Beijing Puhua international hospital, Khaled's family has decided to bring him for treatment to China, and raise his quality of life.
CONDITION BEFORE TREATMENT
The progression of Khaled's condition was rather fast. In 2004, he began feeling a tingling sensation in his limbs. In January 2005, Khaled began feeling numbness in arms, hands, and fingers. His right arm felt weaker than his left. His feet would also frequently felt numb. The symptoms of numbness and tingling would reoccur every half a year.
His condition continued getting worse, and by 2006 Khaled had difficulty walking, urinating and developed vision problems. At this stage, and also upon admission in our hospital, Khaled was diagnosed with secondary progressive multiple sclerosis.
Khaled's head and neck had tremors. In addition to that, his neck was soft; his muscle tone was decreased in all four limbs.
Upon arrival to Beijing Puhua International hospital Khaled was not cooperating with the medical team. He would often lose his temper, and did not wish to attend all therapy sessions.
Khaled could not walk, nor stand independently. His speech was slurred, and it was hard to understand. Altogether, Khaled's condition was relatively severe, and he was suffering from progressive movements and balance disorders.
METHOD OF TREATMENT
Stem cell implantations combined with daily activation and proliferation treatment and extensive rehabilitation therapy (physiotherapy, occupational therapy and daily TCM treatments).
CONDITION AFTER THE TREATMENT
During the rehabilitation period Khaled has become more optimistic and active.
After the second stem cell injection, his condition has begun gradually improving.
Now Khaled's mood is more stable, and he does not get angry all the time. Khaled now has better control of his body and better balance. When sitting, Khaled can now straighten his arms and lift them many times, an ability he lost prior to undergoing stem cell treatment.
Khaled's speech improved and became more fluent.
However, What Khaled and his family consider, as his biggest achievement is that now Khaled can walk for more than 10 meters with a walker.
Khaled's fingers became more flexible, and our physiotherapists note more accuracy when he's trying to perform finger-to-finger movements. Khaled is now working very hard on his rehabilitation, in order to make further improvements. We wish him the best of luck and will wait for news about future improvements. |
