Osama Abdulla Yosuf Buqais - Spinal Cord Injury
NAME: Osama Abdulla Yosuf Buqais
SEX: Male
COUNTRY: Libya
AGE: 33
DIAGNOSIS: Spinal Cord Injury

REASON FOR TREATMENT

Osama was involved in a car accident, which has left him with a spinal cord, about one month prior to his arrival to Beijing Puhua International hospital. The injury caused Osama to experience motor and sensational dysfunctions in his lower limbs, as well as urination and bowel movement disturbances.

CONDITION BEFORE TREATMENT

Despite the surgical treatment Osama has received right after the accident, he was diagnosed as suffering from an incomplete injury of the lumbar spine and vertebras' fractures. Osama's condition is diagnosed as paraplegic

Osama's paraplegia caused him great difficulty to move his legs.

In addition, Osama did not experience sensation below the level of injury, which led him being unable to control stool and urination, as well as being unable to feel pain and temperature changes.

METHOD OF TREATMENT

Stem cell implantations, Daily IV of medicines, neural nutrition and protection as well as Physical and Occupational Therapy sessions, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Acupuncture

CONDITION AFTER TREATMENT

Osama did his best in order to cooperate with the treatment procedures and made a great progress while in the hospital.

In the very beginning of the stem cell treatment, Osama's sensation level lowered to the pelvic region of his body and the sensation continued increasing while undergoing treatment.

After the third stem cell injection Osama regained the ability to move his toes. At the end of his stay in the hospital Osama has also regained sensation in his toes. Osama also expressed that he feels that his legs are stronger than before and he is now able to distinguish which leg is being touched.

The improvements in his toes' movements and sensation level descend were not the only improvements Osama gained during his stay in our hospital. His control for urination and defecation also improved significantly.

Osama can now feel the desire to urinate and pass stool, which is a significant progress in his overall condition.

Exited with the improvements he has managed to gain during the treatment course in our hospital, Osama was eager to continue rehabilitation procedures upon his return to his native Libya, in order to receive further improvements.

Follow up

Six months after his treatment course in Beijing Puhua International Hospital, we have received further good news from Osama. He has written us to report which other significant improvements: he has seen; it is now easier for Osama to stay in a sitting position, due to the more strengths in his legs muscles.

He is now able to lift up his knees, straighten his legs and move his feet backwards.

The sensation level in Osama's spine continued descending; Osama is now able to feel his legs throughout.

During therapy, Osama now stands for quite a long period of time and is able to walk slowly with a walker. He has regained some mobility functions, and his increasing legs muscles are allowing him to make improvements on a daily basis.
