Renad Alotaibi - Cerebral Palsy
NAME: Renad Alotaibi
SEX: Female
COUNTRY: Saudi Arabia
AGE: 5
DIAGNOSIS: Cerebral Palsy

REASON FOR TREATMENT

Renad Alotaibi was born in Saudi Arabia. Her mother experienced a complicated delivery, which consequently led to brain damage. During her very early development, Renad began suffering from speech retardation, movement disorder and motor disorder of limbs. Renad was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy.

Trying to help their daughter and give her a better perspective in life, Renad's family began looking for different options than the ones available for them in Saudi Arabia, and they decided to apply for treatment in Beijing Puhua International Hospital.

CONDITION BEFORE THE TREATMENT

Upon arrival to Beijing, Renad was very weak. She would try to hold her neck, but could stay in that position for no longer than 30 seconds. Because Renad had suffered from athetosis (writhing movements of the fingers, arms, legs, and neck), it was hard for her to control her arms and legs.

Renad's condition was complicated by muscle spasticity, caused by the curvature of her spine. Due to her scoliosis, Renad has developed dysplasia of hip joints. She could not sit or stand by herself, and her hip joints could not support her body and could not extent appropriately.

The only thing Renad was able to do when she was admitted to Beijing Puhua hospital was to turn over by herself. Other than that Renad was fully dependant on hr family in fulfilling her every day needs.

METHOD OF TREATMENT

Stem cell implantations, Daily IV of medicines, neural nutrition and protection as well as Physical and Occupational Therapy sessions, Traditional Chinese Medicine, acupuncture.

CONDITION AFTER FIRST TREATMENT

By the time the treatment was completed, Renad had achieved noticeable improvements.

Renad can now better control her head and torso. Also, Renad now can rest without disturbing involuntary movements, which persisted throughout her entire day before the treatment, and would leave her only during sleep.

All the achievements seen allowed Renad to have more time to gain strength. In addition, she has also improved the level of self- controlled movements of upper limbs.

After returning home, Renad's mother had noticed, that Renad can now communicate with her when she needs her help or assistance to urinate and other every day needs, something she was unable to do before.

Renad's speech ability has also improved. She can now pronounce some simple words like "dad", "mom" and "auntie", compared to "I" and "mom", the words she could hardly say before the treatment.

CONDITION AFTER THE SECOND TREATMENT

Due to the significant improvements received while undergoing the first treatment, Renad's parents have decided to bring her for a second treatment in Beijing Puhua International hospital.

After completing the second treatment and with the help of physiotherapy sessions Renad can now sit by herself, for a short periods of time; about 2-4 minutes.

Renad's right hand movements have improved significantly. She can now grasp objects, which she was unable to do before.

Renad also started to turn her head. Her neck became stronger, and it supports her head well.

4 months after the second treatment Renad became more aware of what is happening around her, and her cognitive functions have improved. She started paying attention to her surroundings, and her facial expressions have multiplied.

Renad's speech ability has improved; her tongue became more flexible, and she can now pronounce more words. Renad's drooling has stopped.

Our medical team is looking forward to see Renad achieve even greater improvements in the future, and we will keep contact with Renad's family to follow up on her condition.
