REASON FOR TREATMENT
Daniel Mbohli has begun suffering from ALS in 2008. He first noticed weakness in March of 2008, in right hand fingers. The weakness has progressed with time until Daniel was unable to hold or lift anything with his right hand. Around the same time Daniel's right leg started to feel weak, which made any movement difficult.
The disease continued degenerating fast, and has affected his left side shortly. Daniel now suffered from muscle atrophy in both his upper and lower limbs.
In addition to weakness, Daniel's condition was followed by stiffness and cramps in his legs. He was unable to take care of himself anymore.
In order to better Daniel's quality of life, his family searched for alternative treatment options outside their native Cameroon. Learning about stem cell treatment, they have decided to come to China.
CONDITION BEFORE TREATMENT
Upon Daniel's admission in Beijing Puhua International hospital, he was confined to a wheelchair.
Daniel's voice was weak and his speech slow, which made it difficult for him to communicate. Daniel would choke while swallowing or drinking. His neck muscles were very weak, and he was no longer able to support his head.
Upon Daniel's arrival in Beijing, our medical team has examined him and concluded that his general condition was relatively poor. Daniel has lost a lot of weight, he could not move by himself.
Daniel could not communicate effectively due to his speech deterioration; it was hard to understand what he was trying to say. In addition to speaking, Daniel was suffering from breathing difficulties, neck muscle weakness, stiffness of all four limbs, watery mouth, muscle twitching and muscle atrophy.
While coughing, choking, or sneezing, Daniel would feel sharp cramps in his chest and stomach.
Daniel needed assistance in his daily needs, and needed constant care.
METHOD OF TREATMENT
Stem cell implantations, Daily IV of medicines, neural nutrition and protection as well as Physical and Occupational Therapy sessions, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Acupuncture.
CONDITION AFTER TREATMENT
During his treatment and rehabilitation period, Daniel continued working very hard in order to see improvements from the treatment.
Beijing Puhua International hospital's medical team noted improvements in Daniel's condition during treatment itself.
Daniel now feels more strength in his body, hands and legs.
Daniel now is able to stand up with some help, and participate more actively in physiotherapy.
After stem cell treatment, Daniel can speak louder and clearer, and it is easier for people to understand him. It is now easier for Daniel to swallow, he does not choke all the time, and is able to take fluids better.
