REASON FOR TREATMENT
In June 2005 Albert was involved in a car accident. Following the accident, Albert spent several months in a coma.
Once Albert came out of coma, almost a year after the accident, in May 2006 he was immobile, unable to speak or show facial expression. His fine motor movements were poor and general condition weak. He suffered memory loss and had difficulties speaking.
Over time Albert grew stronger physically and could walk short distances with assistance.
Albert's short-term memory was very poor and he required constant assistance in performing daily tasks and walking (as he could not balance by himself). He was able to bath and dress himself, but he needed to be verbally instructed to start the task.
Hoping to do everything possible to see more improvements in Albert's condition, his family decided to try stem cell treatment offered in Beijing Puhua International Hospital.
CONDITION BEFORE TREATMENT
Albert had concentration difficulty and it was hard for him to learn new things. He experienced difficulties with orientation in time and place.
Albert was able to say some words and express his ideas by using very short sentences. He tended to repeat the words that others just said.
Albert's abstract and associative thinking was affected, as well as his short-term memory, which was practically non-existent since the accident.
Albert experienced lack of initiation and motivation, and needed to be told which activity to perform.
Muscle tone of Albert's left side limbs was slightly high; movements were clumsy, especially on the left side of his body. Albert experienced difficult in balancing his gait, and needed assistance walking while presenting with wide-based staggering gait.
Upon admission, Albert's speech was slurred and difficult to understand for those who were not his close family members. Hearing decrease was noted in his left ear.
METHOD OF TREATMENT
Stem cell implantations, Daily IV of medicines, neural nutrition and protection as well as Physical and Occupational Therapy sessions, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Acupuncture

After completing stem cell treatment, Albert's condition has improved remarkably. He now has better control of his body. Albert's gait became steadier and he can now walk a remarkably longer distance independently.
Albert's speech is clearer than before and easier for others to understand, as his tongue is more flexible. He can pronounce more sounds, which were difficult for him to pronounce before the treatment.
Albert's short memory has improved significantly, and his learning ability grew. It is easier for him to concentrate on one activity or an object during occupational therapy and communication with others.
Albert's associative and abstract thinking have improved as well. Mostly, his time and place orientation appear to be more accurate, per his family members.
Upon returning to his native South Africa, Albert's wife and daughter, who have accompanied him to Beijing, have promised to keep us updated on future improvements, which we wish he continues experiencing. |
