REASON FOR TREATMENT
Eric first began experiencing symptoms in 1999, when he noticed trembling on his right big toe. At that time the disease manifestations were manageable without any medications until the year 2007 when Erics symptoms increased significantly.
Throughout the last 4 years, Eric was able to control his condition with conventional treatment offered by his physician, however he never stopped exploring other treatment options, and in 2010 came upon Beijing Puhua International hospital. At the time of this discovery, Eric's condition has deteriorated in a way that he was experiencing tremor, rigidity and slow movements.
Without much hesitation, and after undergoing an evaluation, Eric has decided to undergo stem cell treatment in order to slow down the progression of his condition and regaining functions lost to Parkinsons disease.
CONDITION BEFORE TREATMENT
Upon admission, Eric presented with atypical Parkinson's disease. His right leg manifested rigidity and periodic muscle cramps.
Eric's speech was blurred, which made it very difficult for him to communicate with others. Because of Parkinsons disease, Eric could not write properly. At the time of admission, Eric was unable to walk fast and straight.
Muscle tone was increased in all of Eric's four limbs, especially on the right side. Coordination of Eric's movements was poor.
After undergoing further medical examinations, Eric was found to be qualified for a direct stem cell implantation of hRPE stem cells via a stereotactic surgery.
METHOD OF TREATMENT
Stem cell implantations, Daily IV of medicines, neural nutrition and protection as well as Physical and Occupational Therapy sessions, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Acupuncture
CONDITION AFTER TREATMENT
Following a direct stem cell implantation, Eric's condition has improved significantly. Eric's movements became remarkably smoother, and his general condition has also improved.
Eric's speech became clearer and much easier for others to understand. Eric's tremor has decreased significantly.
Previously masked, Eric's facial expressions now look noticeably more natural and his mood is better.
On neurological examination before Eric's discharge, no jerks were noted in his limbs.
As Eric told us, the treatment has proved to be helpful for his condition, and he was glad that he had chosen to come to Beijing Puhua International Hospital and is looking forward to seeing further improvements in the nearest future.
We will be following up on Eric's condition and update this page accordingly. |
