REASON FOR TREATMENT
Mouayad's symptoms started when he was 16 year old. At first, his gait became unsteady on uneven ground and sometimes he experienced falls.
Soon after experiencing his first symptoms, Mouayad was forced to stop playing soccer, because he could not run steadily anymore.
Even though the falls did not occur often he was not very sure about his walking, due to his instability. Mouayad began walking while holding the walls or doors when they were within reach.
Mouayad could no longer go up or downstairs without assistance, and felt at times. He could no longer jog or run. His speech was a little blurred.
Mouayad was not the only member of his family to experience these symptoms. His younger brother, Kareem, has soon begun experiencing similar symptoms, and after undergoing several tests, it was clear that the brothers are suffering from hereditary ataxia. Mouayad and Kareems father began searching for alternative forms of treatment for their condition, and after lengthy research has decided to bring them for treatment in Beijing Puhua International hospital.
CONDITION BEFORE TREATMENT
After admission, Mouayad underwent several examinations, which showed cerebellar atrophy and scoliosis. His muscle tone was low and he presented with bilateral dysmetria.
Mouayad had poor balance, so he could hardly walk without falling down. Due to this, he was constantly tilting his body backwards while walking.
Mouayad needed to hold the handrail while climbing stairs. He could not perform squat training in physiotherapy, and was clumsy in coordinated movements and alternating motion.
It was very hard for Mouayad to catch a ping-pong ball, and he would get tired quickly during exercise.
METHOD OF TREATMENT
Stem cell implantations, Daily IV of medicines, neural nutrition and protection as well as Physical and Occupational Therapy sessions, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Acupuncture

After stem cell treatment Mouayad felt an obvious increase of strength in his body compared with his condition at admission.
Now Mouayad does not get tired after exercise as easily as before.
Moyad can control his balance better, and now manages to walk for approximately 200 meters without falling down.
During the last week of his treatment, Mouayad performed better in rehabilitation training; including squatting, ball tossing, coordinated movements and alternating motion. His body is less inclined while walking. Now, he can climb stairs without holding the handrail.
Before discharging from the hospital, Mouayad and his family went to the Great Wall of China. Mouayad was able to climb 50 steps without feeling tired.
We wish Moyad further improvements and hope to hear from him and his brother soon. |
