REASON FOR TREATMENT
Miss Chen's life has changed in December 2003, when she was diagnosed as suffering from type one Diabetes, accompanied with ketoacidosis.
Miss Chen experienced typical diabetes symptoms such as feeling of thirst, increased appetite, frequent urination, and loss of weight. She might have lost more than ten kilos within three days.
Miss Chen turned for treatment in many large Chinese hospitals, however even insulin injections could not help her control her blood glucose levels well.
Miss Chen's condition was very unstable; she was on a diabetic diet and undergone kinetotherapy, and at the same time she was using 50 units of Insulin per day. Her blood glucose levels continued being unstable.
Believing that Cell Therapy treatment in Beijing Puhua International hospital can help her, Miss Chen has visited our hospital.
CONDITION BEFORE TREATMENT
Prior to Cell Therapy treatment, Miss Chen's fasting plasma glucose-FPG was controlled at a level of 6.4-13.8mmol/L. The glycosylated hemoglobin-HbA1C was 8.4, all of which meant that her blood glucose levels were under poor control.
Although Miss Chen experienced no feeling of thirst, increased hunger or frequent urination in the short time before her Cell Therapy treatment, upon admission she presented with a weight of 54 kilos with the height of 170 cm. Miss Chen's appetite was normal, as well as the quality of her sleep. Miss Chens main complaints were unstable blood glucose levels.
METHOD OF TREATMENT
Cell Therapy implantations, Traditional Chinese Medicine, acupuncture.
CONDITION ATER TREATMENT
After four Cell Therapy injections, Miss Chen's blood glucose levels have improved significantly.
Not only was her blood glucose under control and stable, but also she was able to decrease insulin intake dosages. After the treatment, Miss Chen needed only 40 units of Insulin intake a day, and her blood glucose was much more stable. Her FPG was close to normal, with a level of 4.7-6.7mmol/L. Her postprandial blood glucose was much better and more stable than before as well, with a level of 4.2-9.1mmol/L.
Within 15 days of treatment, Miss Chen received these improvements; the review of glycosylated hemoglobin-HbA1C decreased to 7.1, which was much lower than the prior rate of 8.4.
All these changes have made Miss Chen and her family very satisfied with the treatment. They were eager to see more improvements following the Cell Therapy treatment upon their return home.
Follow up
One month following Miss Chen's discharge, her blood glucose levels have stabilized.
FPG is now at a level of 4.1-5.9mmol/L. Postprandial blood glucose was the same as at her discharged level. Insulin dosages have reduced to 37 units a day.
