START OF TREATMENT: April 5th, 2010
CONDITION BEFORE THE TREATMENT: Interview before--Jerica Cole.wmv
Before the treatment, Jerica physically resembles to be smaller than her age. She has a right gaze deviation with rhythmic movement of her eyes. Her head tilts to right, as her neck tilts right. Jerica is suffering from tonic contraction on her limbs. As a result of the brain injury, Jerica cannot walk without support, nor sit by herself, as her sitting balance is poor. An over-abducted hip joint can be seen on both sides, and Jericas knee joints cannot be stretched straight.
Although 8 years old, Jerica is not verbal. She suffers from dysarthria with drooling, and although she is not fully verbal, she can communicate with her eyes, and while responding with approximately ten words.
Jerica's patients have decided to bring Jerica for treatment, as they felt that conventional physiotherapy, which was given to Jerica since the age of two months was not enough to give her a sufficient quality of life. As they look at Jerica, they are hoping that one day Jerica will be able to converse and be more independent.
AFTER THE TREATMENT: Interview after--Jerica.wmv After Cell Therapy treatment, Jerica's neck control and sitting balance have improved. She can now turn her neck more easily and support herself while sitting for about 10 to 30 seconds. As the muscle tone in her extremities improved, Jerica can now move her limbs more easily. Compared to the pre-treatment condition, it seems that it is easier for Jercia to catch objects, while displaying better control of her arms. She can try to walk while being supported. She can now respond to verbal instruction faster. The abduction of hip joints has been improved, and the range of extension of the joint in the left lower limb is almost full.
Jerica's drooling has reduced and swallowing also improved. She has a better appetite. Jerica's family was very content with the treatment and the services offered in Beijing Beijing Puhua International Hospital hospital. While leaving, they said that they are planning to bring Jerica for treatment again in 6 months time, since they can now see what improvements she can achieve. |
